New conference from PRIVACY
A new conference “Early Modern Notions of Privacy and Private” will be held between June 2 and June 4, 2021. The conference is being organized by the Danish National Research Foundation and the Center of Excellence PRIVACY at the University of Copenhagen. The conference will, among other things, examine how implicit or explicit instances of privacy and the private shape relations between individuals and society. Eight international experts have accepted an invitation to participate and speak at the conference.

University of Copenhagen highlights eight women, including Christine Jeanneret from PRIVACY and Astrid Kjeldgaard-Pedersen from iCourts
In light of International Women’s Day, the University of Copenhagen has chosen eight women to highlight and celebrate, including Associate Professor Christine Jeanneret from the Center of Excellence PRIVACY at the University of Copenhagen; she is number three on the list. Professor Astrid Kjeldgaard-Pedersen from the Center of Excellence iCourts at the University of Copenhagen is number six on the list. Associate Professor Jeanneret is currently working on a project that examines 300-year-old sounds and wants to contribute to communicating the story in a way that makes the sounds come alive. Professor Kjeldgaard-Pedersen recently wrote a paper on cyber-attacks and international law.

University of Southern Denmark highlights Aglae Pizzone from CML in light of International Women’s Day
In addition to the University of Copenhagen, the University of Southern Denmark also celebrated the day by highlighting Assistant Professor Aglae Pizzone from the Center of Excellence CML at the University of Southern Denmark. Assistant Professor Pizzone’s research focuses on culture and the history of ideas. “I hope that my experiences can encourage young women to go after a career in the academic world and find ways to create solutions, so they can live out their dreams, “said Assistant Professor Pizzone.

Rubina Raja from Urbnet is publishing a new book series
Professor Rubina Raja from the Center of Excellence Urbnet at Aarhus University is publishing a new book series for which she will act as an editor along with Associate Professor Nina Javette Kofoed from Aarhus University. The series will be about women’s role in history throughout time. The stories will be told from an archeologic and historical perspective and will contain monographs and essays. The series will draw on myths, folklore, and art history, thereby creating an interdisciplinary book series.

New book from Professor Rob Dunn from CEH
Professor Rob Dunn from the Center of Excellence CEH at the University of Copenhagen has published the book “Delicious: The Evolution of Flavor and How it Made Us Human.” In his book Professor Dunn sheds light on the human relationship to food and flavor. He questions what, how, and why we eat what we do. Professor Dunn has previously published six books and written for publications such as National Geographic.

Professor John McGrath publishes a new paper about the cost of mental health disorders
Professor John McGrath, who holds one of the DNRF’s Niels Bohr Professorships, has published the scientific paper “The cost of mental health disorders: a systematic review” about the cost of mental health disorders. In the paper, he analyzes previous reports and studies. Professor McGrath is the last author on the study, which has been published in the scientific journal Epidemiology and Psychiatric Sciences by Cambridge University Press.

Professor N. Asger Mortensen defends his doctoral dissertation based on CNG research
Professor N. Asger Mortensen has defended his doctoral dissertation about mesoscopic electrodynamics, which is based on research from the Center of Excellence CNG at the Niels Bohr Institute and the University of Copenhagen. The doctoral dissertation describes a new theoretical formalism that includes the quantum physics correction.
