Christian S. Jensen (Vice Chair)

The Danish National Research Foundation is an important highly respected keystone in the Danish research funding landscape, and receiving a grant by the foundation is very prestigious. That is why it is a big privilege and big responsibility to be a member of the foundation’s board. I see it as a central task to contribute to ensure that the foundation – with a starting point in insightful professional evaluations – continues to support excellent research with the potential to be groundbreaking.

My background is within computer science. Beyond my Danish appointments with Aalborg University and Aarhus University, I’ve been in the US for six years, first as a Ph.D. student at the University of Maryland for 2 ½ years, then at the University of Arizona for 2 ½ years, and lastly with Google Research, Mountain View for a year. I have broad experience with research evaluation and financing, including from service the settings of the Swiss National Science Foundation, ERC, the Max Planck Society, the VILLUM FONDEN, and research councils and foundations in countries such as Norway, Sweden, the UK, and the US.
