Tine Brink Henriksen

I find that the overarching values and guiding principles underpinning the work of the DNRF Board align closely with what is required to facilitate research at the highest international level. I am therefore deeply honoured and excited to be appointed to help steward these values and contribute to the foundation’s mission and to support excellence in all aspects of Danish research.

I am a medical doctor, specialist in paediatrics and expert in newborn medicine, and a Professor of Paediatrics at Aarhus University. My research spans large national and international clinical trials, clinical and preclinical investigations, as well as epidemiological studies, including methodology. Broadly, I focus on identifying how very early-life exposures contribute to later disease. This includes fetal and perinatal exposures, and newborn disease and treatment—reflecting a life-course perspective on health and disease. Both environmental and pharmacological exposures are included in my field of research.

My research is often interdisciplinary and involves collaborations with a range of medical specialists, as well as molecular biologists, toxicologists, anthropologists, sociologists, psychologists, and researchers in nursing and midwifery.

I have extensive experience in research evaluation and the assessment of grant applications, both nationally and internationally.
