I joined the DNRF board in November 2013. Although I had served on a number of evaluation panels and been a member of research councils, the board membership has given me new and very useful experiences from research assessment; I am highly impressed by the way the DNRF works and its efforts to always improve the quality of its work.
My background is in synthetic organic chemistry. I am now a professor emeritus but still highly involved in science, at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm. From 2015 to 2018 I was the president of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, and I was recently elected president of the European Academies’ Science Advisory Council (EASAC), a position I will hold starting in 2020.
