New DNRF board members

Minister of Higher Education and Science Christina Egelund has appointed professors Anne S. Meyer and Søren Brunak to the board of the Danish National Research Foundation, as of December 1 2025.

Anne S. Meyer is a professor and head of section at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). Her expertise is in biotechnology and she has several years’ experience reviewing proposals and evaluating research in Denmark and abroad.

“Of all the funding bodies in Denmark, the Danish National Research Foundation does the most to support important basic research at an international level. I look forward with great respect and humility to joining the board and helping pursue its goals,” she says.

Søren Brunak, Professor of Disease Systems Biology, has spent his whole career working with biological and medical data.

“Biological and medical research is increasingly moving towards looking at all of our genes and human diseases simultaneously. I look forward to contributing interdisciplinary insights and experience that can identify new intersections and lead to new scientific breakthroughs.”

In its announcement of Meyer and Brunak’s new roles, the Ministry of Higher Education and Science writes, “The appointment process emphasized the candidates’ insights into research at an international level, and seeks to ensure that the board has competencies in all of the main scientific areas, as well as financial insight.”
