“The Danish National Research Foundation is of crucial importance for Danish research. There is a need for high ambitions regarding quality and talent development, and the foundation creates excellent conditions for outstanding research across all fields. It is a great responsibility, and I look forward to contributing to the foundation’s work in collaboration with the DNRF board and the secretariat. Additionally, I am eager to engage in dialogue and to cooperate with the research environments supported by the foundation,” Professor Mejlgaard said.

The Danish National Research Foundation’s chairman, Dorthe Dahl-Jensen, is also extremely pleased that Niels Mejlgaard has agreed to be CEO of the DNRF.

“It is an incredibly good match,” Dahl-Jensen said and continued:

“Niels Mejlgaard has all the qualifications we have been looking for in the foundation’s new CEO. He has a solid knowledge of the academic world, and he has a good understanding of the foundation’s work. Additionally, he is very dynamic and a skilled strategist who can safely lead us toward the goals we set. So I confidently hand over the helm to Mejlgaard and look forward to our collaboration.”

“At the same time, I would also like to take the opportunity to express my deep gratitude to Søren-Peter Olesen for his time at the foundation. His contribution has been invaluable, and we have had a fantastic collaboration.”
