Nine out of the Villum Foundation’s 20 new Young Investigators 2016 are associated with a DNRF Center of Excellence

Each year, VILLUM FONDEN´s Young Investigator programme grants a number of large amounts for young researchers at Danish universities to boost their research careers. The programme was established in 2011 to target funds at the younger – Danish as well as foreign – research talents.

This year, 119 million kroner were awarded to 20 young researchers. Nine of the 20 awardees are from a Center of Excellence funded by the Danish National Research Foundation.

“Talent development is a strong focal point for the Danish National Research Foundation because it is a crucial element in its overall mission of promoting excellence in research. We are proud that so many of the new Young Investigators are from a DNRF center,” says the foundation’s director, Søren-Peter Olesen.
