Ancient dental plaque: a ‘whey’ into our milk drinking past?

An international team of researchers led by the University of Oklahoma, and involving the Universities of York and Copenhagen, and University College London (UCL) has shed new light on the genetic mutations which enable adults to drink milk. They have done this through an unusual source – investigations of calcified dental plaque on ancient human teeth. The research result is now published in Scientific Reports.
