Former center leader and professor Eugene Polzik receives Dansk Magisterforening’s research prize

Professor Eugene Polzik, center leader of the Center for Quantum Optics (Quantop), has received the Danish Association of Masters and PhDs’ (Dansk Magisterforening) research prize in natural and technical science for his groundbreaking and original research. In recommending him for the prize, Professor Polzik’s colleagues emphasized his groundbreaking discoveries in quantum mechanics: ”Eugene Polzik’s research in quantum information utilizes the oddities of quantum mechanics to do things which are impossible according to classical logic. Eugene Polzik has contributed considerably to putting Denmark on the world map in quantum information, and he is a noble representative of the best in Danish and international basic research.” Polzik was among the first scientists to successfully transfer quantum mechanical information over large distances, so-called teleportation.
