The DNRF 20th anniversary
Celebrating 20 Years of Funding Excellent Research
On Friday, October 28, 2011, the Danish National Research Foundation celebrated its 20th anniversary and took the opportunity to shine a light on the results and long-term successes of DNRF investments as well as presenting the new generation of Centers of Excellence, which will be inaugurated in January 2012. All current and previous DNRF grant holders and board members and a broad group of research policy stakeholders from Denmark and abroad were invited.
The participants had the pleasure of listening to Minister of Science, Innovation and Higher Education Morten Østergaard, Secretary General Ernst-Ludwig Winnacker, Human Frontier Science Program and Honorary Professor Donald Braben, University College London who spoke at the anniversary.
The DNRF also invited a group of speakers who, from different perspectives, recounted the impact of the last 20 years of DNRF investments – for Centers of Excellence, for research careers, and for Denmark. The participants had the pleasure of listening to Jens Hjorth, Dorthe Berntsen, Jens Nørskov, Jens Oddershede and Lars Goldschmidt.
It was an exciting and festive day, during which the participants could look both backward and forward in time, and the DNRF hopes that the anniversary was a good opportunity to discuss how to fund excellent research in Denmark.
As part of the celebration, DNRF has published a booklet on 20 years of funding excellent research. Read more here.
