Professor Gunnar Öquist and Professor Thomas Sinkjær have an audience with HRH The Crown Prince

On Monday, August 24, Professor Gunnar Öquist and Professor Thomas Sinkjær headed to Christiansborg Castle for an audience with HRH The Crown Prince to thank him for conferring on them the Order of Dannebrog’s Knight’s Cross.

Professor Öquist and Professor Sinkjær received this honor for their immeasurable contributions to the Danish research community over a long period of years. Öquist has been involved in research evaluations all over the world and has contributed considerably to refining the framework  for research worldwide.

Professor Sinkjær, who recently became the director of research for the Villum Foundation, has, as the director of the Danish National Research Foundation (DNRF), played an important role in securing the best working environments for the elite of Danish research. With his background as the leader of a Center of Excellence, Sinkjær, as director, worked carefully in refining the DNRF’s Centers of Excellence concept, and he actively participated in forming the research agenda in both Denmark and internationally.

Professor Liselotte Højgaard, chair of the DNRF, attended the meeting, along with Carina Mårtsson from the Swedish Embassy and Professor Søren-Peter Olesen, the new director of the DNRF.
