New international research network headed by Center Leader Jørgen Ellegaard Andersen in Northern Europe

National Science Foundation (NSF) has awarded $ 5 mio. to an international research network spanning the USA, Canada and Europa  within the research field of Center for Quantum Geomeometry of Moduli Spaces. Center Leader Jørgen Ellegaard Andersen is the contact person in the Northern European parts of the network.

GEAR – Geometric structures and Representation varieties – is a completely new research network in basic mathematical research in the USA, Canada and Europe. The Danish National Research Foundation’s Center for Quantum Geometry of Moduli Spaces (QGM), is the hub for the network’s collaboration in Northern Europe. The network is headed by researchers from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Princeton University, the University of Maryland and Stanford University.

“It’s a huge boost to basic mathematical research on a global scale. This American research network will be an extremely strong partner for the basic mathematical research environment in Denmark and the rest of Europe,” says Center Leader Jørgen Ellegaard Andersen.
