Prestigious European award to Center Leader Don Canfield

Center leader Don Canfield from the Nordic Center for Earth Evolution (NordCEE) has received the 2011 Urey Award from the European Association of Geochemistry.

The award is given for outstanding contributions advancing geochemistry over a career. The award is based on scientific merit and will be presented at the V.M. Goldschmidt Conference taking place in Prague on August 14-19 2011.

Honouring his work, the award is named after American physical chemist Harold Clayton Urey, recipient of the Nobel Prize in chemistry in 1934, whose work on isotopes later led to theories of planetary evolution.
